Free Baby Alien Pattern

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are only 12 sleeps away from Christmas and I’m sure that just like me, you still have a ton of items on your to do list. From Christmas shopping, to holiday gifts to make, to even some custom orders for those small business owners. This is the busiest time of the year for us all, but it is also the time when we need to slow down and enjoy those moments with friends and family.

Im almost finished up with my custom order list (or I was until I announced it and got flooded with more haha) which means that it felt like due time to release this long awaited pattern/modification. You may have seen this little one over on my instagram page making various appearances, especially during the One of a Kind Show and a whole bunch of you asked me for the pattern. Well todays the day!

This Baby Alien crochet pattern is a modification of my Martian Man pattern, meaning that if you have already purchased the Martian Man pattern you will be very familiar with the steps. The only changes are the colours and when to change them, the ears and their placement and the addition of the scarf. I will be posting the full pattern for free here on my blog below (keep scrolling) as well as the modification details over on instagram.

  5. F/O and SLST with short tail, it will be tucked inside the body.

Body/Head

Now that we have our Ears & Arms prepared we are ready to start the Body! Make sure you have read the techniques on page 4 as well.

Start with Colour B and stuff as you work!

F/O and SLST after finishing the first leg. Repeat the steps for the second leg but DO NOT F/O, instead continue below. Connect to the first leg using the first stitch of round 6.

  1. 12 SC around first leg, 12 SC around second leg (24)
  2. 24 SC (24)
  3. 24 SC (24)

  2. 36 SC (36)
  3. ( 4 SC, DEC ) x6 (30)
  4. ( 3 SC, DEC ) x6 (24)

At this point make sure that your legs and body are stuffed. Insert your safety eyes between rounds 19 and 20. Stuff the head once this is complete.

23. ( 1 SC, DEC ) x8 (16)
24. DEC x8 (8)
Finish Stuffing the Head
25. F/O and SLST. Close the opening and weave in the end.

If you’re opting to use felt details instead of safety eyes, now is the time to attach them.

Scarf

Flip your alien around the so the head is facing you with the back of the body facing up. Attach your vanilla/cream/white yarn to a front loop left in round 14 and place 1 HDC in each stitch around the neck. Once you return to the end F/O and hide the ends in the body.
