Stepped Riser Market Stand | Free Blueprints
Last week I built my third iteration of a stepped market display stand. Over the years my design has evolved and changed and while this one is quite hefty, it worked perfectly at my event last weekend!

I posted about it on my instagram stories and there was a TON of interest in how I built it and if I would be willing to draw up some plans. Well, I spent some time this morning taking my rough sketch and turning it into a cleaner more laid out design so that you or someone else in your life can make one yourself with only a few tools, a sheet of 3/4″ plywood and a few dowels.

These instructions will make a display that is 36″ long, 23″ wide and 32″ tall. Each shelf is 5/6″ wide and 8″ tall allowing all different sized plushies to be displayed.

The doweling are in place to help keep the items in the stand, stopping them from falling onto the ground especially on super windy market days. You can opt to skip this step if you so choose.

In order to complete this project you’re going to need to purchase two 72″ pieces of doweling, or four 36″ pieces of doweling as you will need four pieces at 34.5″ long. You will also need a sheet of 3/4″ plywood, some wood glue, 1.5″ screws, a drill, a skill saw/table saw, a jigsaw, and a sander/sandpaper.
Take your doweling and cut them into four pieces that are 34.5″ long.

Grab your piece of plywood, mark out and cut out the pieces in the diagram as shown below. The second diagram provides more detailed measurements on how to create the ends of our shelf. I use the jigsaw to cut out the inside corners of the steps as to not over cut. The sander/sand paper is used to smooth all of the edges.

Once everything is cut, mark out the location of the shelves, supports and dowels as shown in the diagram and glue + screw everything together.

Your shelf is now complete and you’re welcome to either stain, or paint it to meet your branding needs! I also plan on adding shelves or signage to the empty spaces on either end!
While this isn’t the most compact or even collapsable stand. It is super sturdy and holds plenty of items nice and secure which is exactly what I was looking for in a display. Im sure with some planning you could make some foldable legs but this design meets my needs just fine for now!

I would love to see your market shelves in action so be sure to tag me on socials if you make a set!
